Police arrest ‘serial child rapist’ in Karachi

KARACHI: Police on Tuesday announced the arrest of a serial child rapist from Karachi’s Malir area, ARY News reported.

In a new conference, DIG East Zulfiqar Larak told media that the suspect Amjad Ali belongs to Jhang district of Punjab and is involved in sexually abusing at least six minor girls in Malir area of the city.

“We received a lot of reports of rape of minor girls in Malir district so we constituted a police team which spotted him (suspect) in a CCTV footage near a rape victim’s house which led to his arrest,” said the police officer, adding that his DNA matched from tissue samples collected from at least six minor girls.

He maintained that DNA reports from at least 20 other cases is awaited and there is strong possibility that the suspect is behind those crimes as well.

The law enforcement agency says Amjad Ali came to Karachi as a labourer and worked in a private textile mill till his arrest.

At least five cell phones were recovered from his custody while he has a huge amount in his bank account, the police added.

Madrassa teacher arrested for sexually abusing girls in Karachi

Just last week, Karachi police arrested a a madrassa teacher for sexually abusing at least 10 young girls in Korangi area of the city.

The man named Alam Ghouri sexually abused at least 10 girls aged between five and 14 and filmed the act on his cellphone camera.

Alam was arrested after an area resident lodged a First Information Report (FIR) with police claiming that four years ago, Alam Ghouri not only raped his daughter but filmed the act.

The complainant claimed that her daughter was 14 when the incident occurred and now the accused is blackmailing him with the video.
