ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday assured that his government would have a policy for the welfare of people with Autism.

On the World Autism Awareness Day today, Premier Khan tweeted in an encouraging tone that “there is global recognition not only of Autism but also the immense potential of persons with Autism.”

He asserted that “I want to assure parents and teachers we will have a policy that ensures welfare of persons with Autism and allows them to realise their potential.”

According to autism-society.org, Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a complex neurological condition which causes problems with language and communication skills.

ASD is defined by a certain set of behaviours and is a “spectrum condition” that affects individuals differently and to varying degrees. However, there is no known single cause of autism, but increased awareness and early diagnosis/intervention and access to appropriate services/supports lead to significantly improved outcomes.

World Autism Awareness Day is being observed today across the world.
