SUKKUR: Syed Khursheed Shah said on Wednesday that the political situation in the country has been growing highly perilous and directly influencing the economy.

The former opposition leader reiterated that his party will put all efforts to keep the system running, nevertheless, the new developing political environment is very precarious which is being reflected in the economic sphere of Pakistan.

He further said, within two months, since the new government took over, billions of rupees loss has been incurred by the country and the economy is under enormous pressure, he added.

Referring to the corruption reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau, Khursheed Shah offered to constitute a committee to probe charges of embezzlement against him while claiming to have donated his plots for welfare works.

Earlier today, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said the government had nothing to with the ongoing accountability drive catching several bigwigs.

Speaking to media before the parliament session, Mr. Chaudhry said the prime minister had connection with anyone’s arrest. “It’s better for the Opposition not to name the accountability process as political vendetta,” he added.

He recalled that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman was appointed by the previous PML-N government. He asked the former rulers to conduct their introspection first before hurling barbs at the incumbent government.

The minister reiterated government’s stance the current ruling setup would bring back looted wealth to the country. He wondered that all hue and cry was being raised on accountability of a handful of people.
