President Alvi seeks higher quota for workers in Saudi Arabia

ISLAMABAD: Saudi Arabia Shura Council Chairman Dr. Abdullah Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Sheikh here on Wednesday called on President Dr. Arif Alvi in Islamabad.

Talking to the chairman, President Dr. Arif Alvi hoped for a greater share for Pakistani manpower in Saudi job market.

He said that Pakistan attached utmost importance to its relations with Saudi Arabia and added, “Launching of Saudi-Pakistan Supreme Coordination Council will pave the way for a tangible and result-oriented political, economic and strategic engagement.”

He appreciated the Saudi Arabia’s decision to increase Hajj quota to 200,000 and to drastically reduce visit-visa fee for Pakistani nationals.

Earlier, a delegation of Saudi Arabia’s Shura Council, headed by its Chairman Dr. Abdullah Bin Mohammed Bin Ibrahim Al-Shaikh had arrived in Pakistan on a three-day official visit on April 24.

Senator Raja Zafarul Haq and other distinguished parliamentarian had welcomed the delegation at Nur Khan Airbase in Islamabad.

Shura Council’s delegation had arrived in Pakistan on the invitation of Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani to further strengthen bilateral relationship between the two brotherly countries and to boost trade and investment cooperation.
