LONDON: The conviction of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif in the Avenfield case has thrown the PML-N supremo in a bind, not only back home, but also in London where he is currently staying.
The balloon started going up for the Sharifs on Sunday after a number of protesters gathered outside Avenfield apartments of Mr. Sharif and tried to break into the flats, only to be prevented by security of the PML-N leader. A heated exchanged also ensured between the two sides.
The video of the incident is also going viral on social media pages, mainly Twitter and Facebook.
One of the protesters was filmed kicked the door of the flat shortly after Mr. Nawaz Sharif entered through it. One incensed protester also threw a shopping cart outside the apartment gate, followed by exchange of abuses between Sharif’s security officers and the protesting man.

According to reports, the officials also searched the cars of prominent protesters to identify the group they belong to. Metropolitan authorities also stated that they have got the footage of the incident and will take action with regards to damage to property and assault.
The accountability court on Friday sentenced Nawaz Sharif to a total of 10 years in prison and directed him to pay a fine of £8 million after finding him guilty on different charges in the Avenfield properties case.
Judge Muhammad Bashir found Mr. Sharif guilty of accumulating assets beyond his known sources of income.
He handed out seven-year imprisonment to the former premier’s daughter Maryam Nawaz and a fine of £2 million. She has been awarded an additional one year’s imprisonment on charges of using Calibri font to fabricate Avenfield properties trust deeds.
Whereas, her husband Captain retired Safdar has been awarded one year’s jail term.
