ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf will hold a political gathering at the iconic D-Chowk in Islamabad on July 23 to wind up the election campaign.

A statement from PTI leader Senator Faisal Javed said the party has started preparations for the ‘grand finale’ and he has written a letter to the district administration for the necessary permission.

The PTI will host a mammoth political gathering and expects thousands of party workers to attend the event. PTI chairman Imran Khan will address the gathering in the evening.

Javed said that they have also informed the Islamabad administration over the event. He said the party association with D-Chowk is well-known.

The party had organised the ‘Azad March’ sit-in in 2014 to protest alleged rigging in the general elections by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). The protest march took from 14 August to 17 December 2014 and was one of the longest ever held.

Imran Khan has already started his political campaign from Mianwali. The campaign which will see political gatherings and rallies across the country, will wind up in Islamabad just two days prior to the general election.
