PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shaukat Yusufzai on Sunday said he will challenge the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) decision to declare void the election on a provincial assembly seat, PK-23, Shangla.

In PK-23, Shangla, where the PTI leader emerged victorious, the election was declared void because only 5% of the voters were women against at least 10% of the total votes cast in the area as required by the Election Act 2017.

Speaking to ARY News, he said the ECP’s declaring null and void the election over low female voters’ turnout is beyond comprehension.

He said the decision negates the truth, announcing to take the matter to a high court.

Mr Yousufzai said no candidate contesting from the constituency had complained of low turnout of female voters.

About the formation of the provincial government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said a party meeting in this regard will be held today.
