ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Faisal Javed Khan has said a legal action should be initiated against PML-N leader, Nehal Hashmi, for uttering foul language against the Pakistan Army.

Speaking to ARY News, Khan said Hashmi should be ashamed of his remarks. The sacrifices of Pak Army are known to everyone in the country, he added.

The senator said no one could dare to look at Pakistan with malicious eye. He reiterated that the whole world acknowledge sacrifices rendered by our army.

He added that the world was learning from professionalism of Pakistan Army. “The Federal government will take action against Hashmi prescribed under the law,” said the PTI leader.

Hashmi, a sacked member of the PML-N, surprised several quarters after he stated at a gathering today that the armed forces of the country couldn’t reclaim an inch of land. He stirred up a hornet’s nest when he went on to say that an atom bomb and F-16s were just for show-offs.

Reacting to a fresh fiery speech of ex-party member Nehal Hashmi criticizing state institutions, senior leader of PML-N, Rana Sanaullah, said the statement given by Hashmi could be in his personal capacity and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has nothing to do with it.

He stated that how could the party take action when party membership of Hashmi had already been suspended. He recalled that the party leader was sacked after he had refused to leave his senatorship after those controversial remarks targeting the judiciary.

The Supreme Court on Feb 1, 2018 had announced its reserved verdict in a contempt case against Nehal Hashmi, awarding him one-month jail term and a fine of Rs50,000.

Hashmi had apparently threatened the Supreme Court’s appointed Joint Investigation Team (JIT) members for interrogating Nawaz Sharif and his family members pertaining to their foreign properties.

The video of threatening speech at an event in Karachi went viral on social media and eventually drew instant reaction from the Supreme Court on May 28, 2017 after Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar took suo motu notice of the incident and summoned the former PML-N Karachi chapter leader to appear before the court.
