ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Saturday turned down a bail plea of detained TV anchor Dr. Shahid Masood in Pakistan Television (PTV) corruption case.
During the hearing of bail plea in the IHC, Justice Mohsin Akhtar announced the reserved verdict in the case and declared the bail request of Shahid Masood rejected.
On Dec 20, the high court reserved a verdict on the plea of former managing director of PTV in corruption case.
As per the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), the journalist is accused of embezzling Rs37 millions, and allotting contracts to a fake company during his tenure as PTV managing director.
Additionally, on Nov 13, another case was registered against Shahid Masood at a police station in Islamabad for snatching cellphone of a reporter during high court coverage of the graft case.
The petitioner said he was deployed for coverage at the Islamabad High Court when Mr. Masood, after using some harsh words, snatched his cellphone. It was then the FIA arrested Dr Shahid Masood from court premises on Nov 23 after his bail petition was rejected by the court.
