LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Saad Rafique has submitted his nomination papers for NA-131 Lahore IX constituency, to contest in the upcoming by-polls.
In general elections of July 25, Rafique had lost the contest in NA-131 seat with thin margin against Prime Minister Imran Khan.
In a neck to neck electoral battle in the Lahore constituency, Rafique secured 83,633 votes against the PTI chairman’s 84,313 votes.
PM Khan vacated NA-131 seat in order to retain the NA-95 of his hometown Mianwali. Now, former railways minister will again contest for NA-131 after the PML-N issued him party ticket for the by-elections.
Rafique’s wife, Ghazala Saad Rafique, will be the covering candidate for the former minister.
The Election Commission of Pakistan holding countrywide by-elections at several seats of National Assembly and provincial assemblies on October 14.
