LAHORE: Records related to the Saaf Pani company scam were burnt in the blaze which erupted in a residential-cum-commercial building in Lahore, sources told ARY News on Saturday.

According to ARY News correspondent, the building affected by fire was owned by former chief minister Punjab Mian Shehbaz Sharif’s son-in-law Ali Imran and housed one of the offices of his company named Ali Trade Company. Sources say the record of agreements between Ali Trade Company and Saaf Pani Company was kept in the same office.

Imran Ali Yousaf was also investigated by National Accountability  Bureau for renting out an office in this plaza the government-owned company on exorbitant rates.

‘Suspicious activity observed’

Punjab Information Minister Fayazul Hasan Chohan also pointed fingers at Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership by saying that Sharif family has a record of such activities.

“This plaza belongs to Shehbaz Sharif’s son-in-law Imran Ali and people told me that they observed some suspicious activity in these offices (belonging to Imran Ali’s firms). They were closed but some people were inside doing some activity,” the minister told ARY News.

He maintained that an investigation has been ordered into the incident and the authorities will soon arrest the culprits if the building or the office was set to fire.
