Sacked PIA employees hold protest for job restoration

KARACHI: The sacked lower grade officials of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) along with their families staged a protest demonstration for job restoration at Star Gate, near Karachi airport on Tuesday, ARY News reported.

The protesters were demanding of the PIA’s management and the government to restore their jobs. They told ARY News that that when they were recruited, PIA had not asked them to submit educational documents.

Giving details, the protesters said that they were recruited in the decade of 1990s and added that in the tenure of former President Pervez Musharraf, under matriculate employs had been shifted on five years contract.

They said, “PIA management, few months earlier, gave them two years time to acquire the required educational certificates but suddenly they were dismissed from service.”  The protesters were of the view that they were expelled over the documents submitted in 2003 and added that now had had the original documents.

The protesters aid that they were facing starvation due to unemployment and asked the government to restore their services.

Earlier, the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on December 29 had dismissed four captains among 50 officials from service over holding fake degrees.

According to the details, the national flag carrier on the direction of the apex court had taken action against the employees holding fake degrees and had sacked 50 officials, including four pilots and cabin crew.
