Operation of Samjhota Express temporarily suspended

ISLAMABAD: The operation of Samjhota Express has been suspended on Thursday, in view of the prevailing tensions between Pakistan and India.

“Samjhota Express will resume its operations as soon as the security situation improves between India and Pakistan,” said the Foreign Office in a statement.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on Thursday announced that the suspension of flight operations will last till midnight for all domestic and international airlines across Pakistan.

The airspace of the country will remain closed for a second day amid escalating tensions with India.

All flight operations across the country have been suspended till midnight, the CAA said.

“Since the existing NOTAM is effective until 2359HRS of February 28 , Pakistan airspace shall remain closed. Please stay in touch with your airlines for timely update on any further changes,” the CAA tweeted.

Indian media has also reported suspension of flights in Occupied Kashmir and India’s Punjab bordering Pakistan. The civilian air traffic has been suspended at Srinagar airport, reports said.

PAF shoots down two IAF jets

Two fighter jets of Indian Air Force were shot down by Pakistan Air Force in a broad day light on Wednesday, said Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major General Asif Ghafoor.

According to the DG ISPR, Indian fighter jets violated Line of Control (LoC) today, and in a robust response, the PAF destroyed two aircraft of IAF inside Pakistani airspace.
