AMRITSAR: Special Adviser to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz shook hands with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the dinner hosted for the dignitaries taking part in the Heart of Asia conference, ARY News reported on Sunday.

It should be noted that Sartaj Aziz is currently in Indian city of Amritsar to represent Pakistan in the Heart of Asia conference.

Pakistani High Commissioner Abdul Basit said that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his well wishes for his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif.

The Heart of Asia Conference on Afghanistan will be inaugurated by Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, Indian Premier Narendra Modi along with 40 foreign ministers and dignitaries from 14 participating countries.

The adviser met the Afghan president on the sidelines of the conference in Amritsar as well in which  issues regarding peace, development and stability in the country were discussed.

Basit also said that Adviser also met Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarief during the dinner as well.

Foreign Office (FO) spokesman Nafees Zakaria has said that Pakistan will attend the Heart of Asia conference in India despite the negative attitude of the neighboring country. He added that the country will attend the conference in India for the sake of peace and stability in Afghanistan.

The two-day Heart of Asia Conference kicked off in Indian city of Amritsar on Saturday to discuss peace and economic development in the country.
