KARACHI: A suspect managed to flee the Supreme Court’s Karachi registry on Thursday after a bench led by Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa dismissed his bail petition.

Justice Khosa expressed shock when he was informed that the suspect had been out on interim bail in a murder case for the last seven years.

The Sindh High Court announced its verdict five years after it granted interim bail to the suspect, he remarked.

The top judge questioned how a person can be allowed such concession for seven years.

A prosecutor informed the judges that the suspect had killed a man in 2012 while wounded another in Hyderabad over a land dispute.

Meanwhile, the bench directed court office to fix an appeal challenging bail awarded to sub-inspect Rasool Buksh in a drugs case in the next court session.

The prosecutor said 2040 gram hashish was recovered from the possession of the accused.
