Sehat Sahulat Cards to be issued from Feb 22 in Punjab

LAHORE: Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmeen Rashid on Monday announced that Sehat Sahulat Cards would be issued from February 22 in Punjab.

According to a statement released from the ministry, Dr. Yasmeen Rashid said that 30 million people of 2.7 million families would be benefited from Sehat Sahulat Cards.

In the first phase, Sehat Sahulat Cards will be distributed among 50 percent population of Punjab, she said and added that they did not believe in lip-service but on practical work.

The minister said that the basic purpose of “Sehat Sahulat Card” was to accommodate such segments of the society who cannot access the health facilities due to lack of resources.

She said that through “Sehat Sahulat Card” free treatment facility worth Rs 720,000 would be attained from any hospital.

Yasmeen Rashid said that by the end of March 2019, 0.8 million ‘Sehat Sahulat Cards’ would be distributed in four districts. She said that the facility of one thousand rupees was given to the patients in the cards for travelling to hospital.

She said that patients can avail treatment head injury, neuro sciences, cardio vascular, sugar, dialysis, hepatitis, liver, HIV, angioplasty, brain surgery and cancer through ‘Sehat Sahulat Card’.

She said that steps are being taken on priority basis for ensuring the health of mother and child and added that majority of our society belonged to middle class who faced difficulties for the treatment in case of any disease.

By the end of December “Sehat Sahulat Card” will be distributed throughout the province, the minister said and added that approximately, with 7.2 million ‘Sehat Sahulat Card’ would be provided to 35 million in Punjab.

She said that budget of Rs7 billion has been allocated in the head of “Sehat Sahulat Card”

The minister said that criteria of deserving candidates for Sehat Sahulat Card in every district will be determined with the help of national economic survey.
