KARACHI: Shab-e-Barat (the night of forgiveness) is being celebrated tonight with a religious fervor.
The night falls on fifteenth day of Sha’ban and around two weeks before the beginning of Ramzan.
Special prayers and nawafils are offered in the mosques throughout the night to seek blessings of the Almighty Allah and forgiveness for their sins.
Prayer congregations will be held in small and major mosques throughout the country. The mosques have already been specially decorated with lightings and buntings to celebrate the occasion and facilitate the worshippers.
Shab-e-Barat gives a chance to the people to seek forgiveness from the Almighty. It is said that the night welcomes the holy month of Ramazan.
People visit the graves of their loved ones and prayers were held all night. People fast next day as a part of Sunnah. Various delicacies and dishes are also made and distributed on this night.
The Khateebs and Ulemas will deliver special sermons highlighting the significance of Shab-e Barat. On the occasion, special Dua will be offered for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan, the unity of Muslims world over and for their emancipation.
Ulema and prayer leaders have appealed to the masses to make diligent and whole hearted supplications before Almighty Allah on the blessed night for themselves and the country.
