KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday directed Director General Karachi Development Authority (KDA) to provide complete records of appointments of the accused persons to the anti-corruption watchdog officials, ARY News reported.

SHC rejected reply submitted by the DG KDA for appointments made in violation of the code of conduct.

The high court was hearing a case related to the irregular appointments in KDA which came under investigation of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

NAB prosecutor told court that KDA officials were not providing records of the accused persons, Ata Abbas and Shahid Umar, who were given employment over fake documents.

“Ata Abbas Zaidi was employed at Grade 5 and later he was promoted to Grade 11 and then Grade 19 officer over a fake diploma. Zaidi had been appointed on four positions in KDA at the same time,” the prosecutor said.

He further said, “The institution finds 11 more illegal appointments during its investigation.”

SHC Chief Justice Ahmed Ali M Shaikh expressed outrage over non-provision of data by KDA officials. He remarked that the KDA officials should get readied for facing consequences over failing to furnish employment records of the accused persons.

The high court directed KDA administration to provide complete records to the NAB within two days. SHC CJ also summoned appointment records of Ata Abbas Zaidi and Shahid Umar till June 18 and adjourned the hearing.
