LAHORE: Pakistan Peoples Party leader Aitzaz Ahsan has said that Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership betrayed Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz upon their arrival to Pakistan.

He said that Shehbaz Sharif should have attempted to reach the barricades outside the Lahore airport. The PML-N President toured several parts of the city but didn’t attempt to reach the airport amid a lukewarm response by party workers.

He asked why PML-N leaders such as Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Khawaja Saad Rafique, and Shehbaz Sharif himself did not reach the aiport. He said even other party leaders such as Khawaja Asif, Ayaz Sadiq, Rana Sanaullah and Khurram Dastagir deserted Nawaz Sharif.

He said that no one would have stopped them entering the Lahore airport but they could easily have met with Nawaz Sharif. Infact, he said that there was a conspiracy against Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz.

He said the PML-N leaders, under a well-planned conspiracy, were absent and kept themselves away from welcoming Sharif. Even Saad Rafique, who calls himself an ideological worker, was nowhere to be seen, while Mushahidullah managed to reach there and should be commended.

He claimed the PML-N leadership has forsaken Nawaz Sharif, and removed him from the political stage and he has been trapped. He compared the betrayal of Nawaz Sharif to the Bengal leader Nawaz Siraj-ud-Daula who was betrayed by the traitor Mir Jaffer in the Battle of Plassey against the British forces.

Aitzaz said he has never seen such betrayal in his entire political career than that meted out to Nawaz Sharif.
