LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday said that US President Donald Trump’s accusations of harbouring terrorists and making lies against Pakistan are deplorable.

Addressing an Ulema convention here, Shehbaz said the country has rendered supreme sacrifices in war against terrorism.

“Pakistan’s sacrifices in war on terror are unparalleled,” he underlined.

In his first tweet of 2018, Trump had threatened Pakistan to withhold aid to the country for allegedly lies and deceit over terrorism.

Calling upon religious scholars to play their due role in fighting religious extremism, Shehbaz said politics of sit-ins and mudslinging inflicted economics losses to the country.

On the occasion, he said the country cannot afford to become under grip of an anarchic situation, while urging the religious scholars to play their constructive role for progress of the country.
