Former captain and senior Pakistani all-rounder Shoaib Malik, who propelled Pakistan to go 4-0 up against Sri Lanka by his unbeaten 69 runs, has shared his fitness secret.

The 36-year-old maintains a relaxed presence in the field with a stunning agility and grace despite his age. He is among the fastest runners in the Pakistan squad and his ability to milk singles in the middle overs against the spinners remain top-notch.

Like his ‘forever-changing’ batting positions, Malik adapts his game according to the situation. He has a method that works quite well for him, especially on the sub-continent.

Malik said that he eats small and frequent meals 6-7 times a day instead of having a complete meal three times.

In the last match against Sri Lanka, Veteran batsman played a magnificent inning of 69 runs off 81 balls. He finished the inning with a six and registered Sri Lanka’s defeat.

“Chasing 174 was not a big score, but if you are playing in between 50 runs and especially when you are one of the senior players in the team, then it’s a big responsibility”, he said.

Malik doesn’t seem muscular, neither he plays with a thick bat but still, he plays brawny shots on the ground that makes spectators joyous. He said that he focuses on his timing while he bats, as timing matters a lot.

Shoaib Malik, make tremendous contributions over the years for Pakistan but remain underrated.

At this age, he is finally being recognised for his invaluable contributions to Pakistani cricket. His ultimate goal is to guide them to a World Cup win in England in 2019 and given his current form and seniority, Malik could well play a pivotal role in Pakistan’s quest.

He is someone who has always focussed on the achievement of his goals rather than winning the honor.
