Shopkeeper, two robbers killed in Karachi’s Saddar area

KARACHI: A shopkeeper was dead shot on Sunday while resisting a robbery attempt in Saddar area, while two suspected robbers were killed, ARY News reported.

The shopkeeper, named Owais, was shot dead by suspected robbers in the mobile market in Saddar area while reportedly resisting a robbery attempt.

However, area residents apprehended one of the robbers and severely thrashed him. He was later handed over to police in subconscious state, but succumbed to his wounds received after the mob attack.

The shopkeepers ensured that the robbers do not escape from the building and locked out exit doors. Police arrived to arrest another robber trapped inside the market, but he fired back and was shot dead in response. A passerby was also injury in the exchange of fire.

The suspects were identified as Owais Mahmood and Bakhtawar Shah and were said to be residents of Swat. Police also recovered weapons, two mobile phones and a wallet from their possession.
