KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Education and Literacy Department Syed Sardar Shah called on the Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari at Bilawal House on Saturday.
The education minister informed the PPP chairman that his department had started practical steps to update curriculum syllabus and textbooks to align them with Sustainable Development Goals 2030 (SDG) issued by the United Nations (UN).
He also informed that to promote female education, the PPP government was paying stipend of Rs3500 to 340,000 female students every year and Sindh was the only province offering such facility.

A day earlier, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has directed the Education Department to update curriculum syllabus and text books to align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2030 for which special focus would be given for improvement of Science, Mathematics and English language books.
He said that improvements in the syllabus and text books to align with the UN Sustainable Goals 2013 must be made. “We have a very small number of Science, Math and English teachers, therefore their recruitment should be made through a special process,” he said.
Briefing the chief minister, the secretary school education had said that 483 schools had been upgraded to middle and high school level, building of 185 existing primary and secondary schools reconstructed, 214 shelter-less schools had been provided with new buildings and three new public schools at Ghotki, Tando Adam and Umerkot had been established.
