Sindh Health Care Commission raids hospitals in Karachi

KARACHI: A team of the Sindh Health Care Commission (SHCC) on Friday visited various hospitals and took serious actions on finding irregularities in Karachi, ARY News reported.

A team of the Anti-Quack Directorate also participated in the raids.

The SHCC team closed operation theatre of Hilal Ahmer Hospital and sealed Arif Medical Centre upon receiving complaints against medical irregularities at the medical facilities.

The spokesperson for SHCC said the Complaint Directorate of the commission upon receiving complainst inspected Saifee Hospital Nazimabad, Kutiyana Memon Kharadar and Taj Medical.

The spokesman said more 90 hospitals had submitted applications for registeration, while 69 others had been issued registration certificates.

He said registration of 4414 hospitals had been completed so far.

The team of the Anti-Quack Directorate visited Hazara Colony and Qayumabad as complaints were received from these areas.

On April 24, a plea had been filed in the Sindh High Court (SHC) against flawed performance of the Sindh Health Care Commission.

The complainant had said the number of sub-standard and unregistered hospitals and clinics were rising in the megalopolis.

He had said the Sindh Health Care Commission had shown negligence in Nishwa’s case as well. At least 95 nurses’ were untrained in Darul Sehat hospital, he had added.

He had wondered on imposition of only Rs0.5 million fine on such a big negligence.
