Sindh signs 1000 buses transport deal with Korean company: minister

KARACHI: Sindh’s Minister of Transport Awais Qadir Shah on Saturday that the Government of Sindh has inked an agreement to run 1000 public transport buses on roads of Karachi, ARY News reported.

Provincial transport minister shah told a press conference here that the government has signed a transport agreement with Korean company for provision of 1000 buses for the city.

“Under the agreement 200 buses will be plied on the roads of Karachi within 60 days of the signing of the transport deal”, the minister said.

Under the agreement 1000 buses will run at various routes of the city.

“It is usually said that the People’s Party fails to win seats in Karachi so it is neglecting the city,” the minister observed. The government has dispelled this impression (with this agreement), transport minister said.

Commenting on the Green Line bus project, Awais Qadir Shah said it seems this project will not be completed by Year 2020. “We could not keep lid on other bus projects for the Green Line bus service,” he said.

He said the Orange Line bus project has been delayed due to some obstacles.

Talking on Karachi Circular Railway, the minister said the railways could not run smoothly until Shaikh Rashid is the department’s minister. “The railways minister changes his stance four times in 24 hours”.
