NOWSHERA: Jamat-e-Islami Chief, Siraj ul Haq on Tuesday hints at a conspiracy behind assassination of Jamiat-Ulema-i-Islam (S) Chief, Maulana Sami ul Haq.

This he said during a meeting with Maulana Hamid ul Haq, after attending prayers’ ceremony, held for the slain chief of JUI-S in Akora Khattak.

“Maulana Sami ul Haq devoted his whole life for the supremacy of Islam”, Maulana’s mission, now will be carried forward by his students, said JI Chief.

He demanded immediate arrest of the perpetrators involved in killing of Maulana Sami ul Haq.

JUI-S Chief was stabbed to death at his residence in Rawalpindi on November 2. The party in its statement issued yesterday said, “It is confirmed to thousands of his followers, the party, Darul Uloom Haqqania and his family that assassination of Maulana Sami ul Haq was not an internal issue rather Indians, Afghans and other elements are involved in this act.”

Appealing security agencies to arrest the real killers of Maulana, the JUI-S demanded exemplary punishment for the culprits.

Highlighting the key role played by slain leader in mediation between Taliban and other groups including Afghan government, the statement said, a delegation of Afghan government had requested Maulana Sami ul Haq in October to facilitate talks with Taliban.

“They started propaganda against him and Darul Uloom Haqqania when they failed to persuade him to play the desired role”, it alleged.

The statement said that the entire Muslim community was saddened over his tragic death but Afghan media were trying to tarnish Maulana’s image.
