KARACHI: Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) has reportedly taken a decision to construct a 370-kilometre long gas pipeline from Karachi to Sawan Gas Field in Khairpur district, ARY News reported.
The SSGCL has also reportedly to set up 30 liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) air mix plants in Sindh and Balochistan provinces worth 14 billion of rupees. The board of directors of SSGCL has approved two mega projects.
A letter, seeking approval of the projects, has also been written to Ministry for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), and the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC), sources said.
Two weeks ago, Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah had also registered a complaint to the federal government by writing a letter to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif indicating lion’s share of the gas projects approved for Punjab despite Sindh shares largest contribution in the natural gas production of the country.
“The federal government is neglecting the province of Sindh, which shares largest contribution in Natural Gas production, by initiating 97 gas schemes, most of them, in Punjab”, he wrote to the premier.
