Karachi: Tensions simmer in Mominabad after police killed boy

KARACHI: The residents of Mominabad locality in Karachi’s Orangi Town on Sunday surrounded a local police station and held a protest against alleged killing of a 12-year-old boy by police personnel, ARY News reported.

The deceased boy has been identified as Rehan, who was allegedly killed by four policemen. However, the motive behind the firing incident in which the boy killed, could not be ascertained.

The area residents chanted slogans against the police and demanded stern action against the policemen involved in the grisly incident.

Orangi Town police chief took notice of the incident after the protest and ordered arrest of the accused. The accused policemen were identified as Majid, Razzaq, Tahir, and Farooqui and a case has been registered against them.

In a separate incident of violence, two women were killed and a child was critically injured in a firing incident in Machhar Colony of Mauripur area.

The deceased women were identified as Saima and Tasleema while the injured toddler was five-month-old boy Sabir.

According to police, a family dispute led to the murder of two women and injuring the child. The husband of one the deceased women was involved in the firing incident, police said.

However, his identification could not be established, police said.
