‘Thanks Karachi, Thanks Pakistan,’ tweets football star Ronaldinho

KARACHI: As the Ronaldinho and other stars are set to play their second exhibition match in Lahore today, Brazilian hero Ronaldinho seems to be enthused by a warm and loving reception given to him and his fellows in Pakistan.

“Thanks Karachi, Thanks Pakistan,” wrote the Ronaldinho with a minute-long video on his Twitter account.

 

Ronaldinho, famous for his stints with Spanish club Barcelona, and his friends are in Pakistan to play exhibition matches in Karachi and Lahore to inspire youngsters to play football.  Today’s their second match in the provincial capital, Lahore.

Football star’s friends included Former Manchester United stalwart Ryan Giggs, Brazilian Roberto Carlos, former England goalkeeper David James, Dutch star George Boateng, former French players Robert Pires and Nicolas Anelka, and Portuguese player Luis Boa Morte.

Ronaldinho, 37, who won the World Player of the Year twice and was part of the 2002 World Cup winning team, had earlier said he is on a goodwill mission aimed at inducing youngsters to play the game.

A day before, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Qamar Bajwa held a reception for visiting Brazilian football celebrity Ronaldinho and other seven top footballers.
