Three killed, five injured in roof collapse in Okara

OKARA: At least three people were killed while five others sustained wounds when the roof of a house collapsed in Okara in wee hours of Wednesday, ARY News reported.

According to rescue sources, the incident occurred in Haveli Lakha neighbourhood of Depalpur tehsil.

The roof of the house caved in because of rainfall, a rescue official said, adding those killed in the roof collapse were minor girls. He said the incident occurred at a time when a wedding party was ongoing.

The deceased and injured were shifted to a nearby medical facility.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast more widespread rain accompanied by dust-thunderstorm in Punjab, Islamabad, Kashmir, at scattered places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while at isolated places in Quetta, Zhob, Sibi, Kalat, Sukkur, Larkana divisions and Gilgit Baltistan.

In the past 24 hours, Islamabad received 57 millimeters of rainfall, Rawalpindi 24, Lahore 43, Gujranwala 40, Peshawar 16 millimeter.
