Three alleged terrorists of banned outfit killed in Karachi operation
KARACHI: Sindh Rangers and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) killed three alleged terrorists affiliated with a proscribed terror outfit, in a gun battle during a joint operation late Tuesday night.
According to Rangers officials, the operation was conducted in Baldia Town area of Karachi.
The terrorists opened fire on the raiding team after sensing the arrival of security personnel in the area. An exchange of fire ensued shortly after, the officials said, adding, all three terrorists were killed in the retaliatory firing.
Three security personnel including two paramilitary and a CTD personnel also sustained gunshot injuries during the shootout, officials said.
Briefing the media about the operation, the CTD spokesperson said two suicide vests, an IED, huge quantity of explosive material and three rifles were recovered from possession of the slain terrorists. Following the operation, the home-made IED, recovered from the terrorists, was defused by the bomb disposal squad.
Rangers spokesperson said the terrorists were planning to carry out a terror attack in the city. However, the law enforcement agencies thwarted the plot by conducting a timely operation, the spokesperson added.
