KARACHI: The strikes of CNG association and transporters have left commuters all across Sindh in limbo on Wednesday (today).

According to details, the CNG association announced yesterday to protest as the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) decided to halt gas supply to CNG stations across Sindh for indefinite period of time. Moreover, the Karachi Transport Ittehad (KTI) – a union of owners of private buses, minibuses, taxis and rickshaws in the port city – also went on strike from today.

The CNG association will also stage protest outside the SSGC office against the repeated supply halt.

Meanwhile, the public has been left stranded in all major and small cities of the province as a result of these simultaneous strikes.

The CNG associations has also threatened to block Karachi’s main artery Shahrah-e-Faisal if supply was not resumed.

The SSGC spokesperson in a statement said, supply to CNG stations will be discontinued for an indefinite period of time due to technical faults in the field, adding gas supply to also remain suspended to the industrial units run by the captive power plants in Karachi for three months.

“Steps are underway to restore gas supply for commercial and domestic consumers with full pressure,” the spokesperson said.
