US CENTCOM chief calls on PM Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD: The visiting US Central Command (CENTCOM) chief General Kenneth F. McKenzie on Monday called on Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad.

The meeting discussed regional security situation including Afghan peace process, Pakistan-US defence cooperation and other matters.

Defense Minister Pervez Khattak and Secretary Foreign Affairs Tehmina Janjua were also in attendance on the occasion.

Earlier, General Kenneth F. McKenzie held a meeting with Naval Chief Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi at the Naval Headquarters in Islamabad and discussed matters pertaining to maritime security.

According to Navy’s spokesperson, General McKenzie was welcomed by the Naval chief upon his arrival at the Naval Headquarters, here today.

Both the dignitaries had discussed matters related to bilateral interests and maritime security.

The Naval chief apprised the US commander about the steps taken by Pakistan Navy to curb maritime terrorism and piracy.

General McKenzie assured to provide every possible cooperation for regional peace and stability.

US CENTCOM chief on Sunday called on COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa at the GHQ Rawalpindi.

The two top commanders discussed the geo-strategic environment and regional security. The discussion also included Afghanistan and the recent standoff between the Pakistani and Indian militaries.
