WASHINGTON: A passenger in a US airliner captured an unusual sight – a German Shelphard perching on his own seat on a flight in Washington.
A pair of pointed ears sticking out from the seat in front was spotted by NBC journalist Kelly O’Donnell in a flight from Palm Beach to Washington DC on Monday.

The journalist couldn’t simply resist snapping this unusual spectacle.
The Independent reports that it was understood the German Shepherd was a Secret Service dog and part of the president’s security team.
“Tails” from my Palm Beach>DC commute. In flight neighbor, a law enforcement German Shepherd with own seat. Good boy.

Inevitably, O’Donnell’s post sparked a slew of bad dog jokes on Twitter.
Some saw the irony that a dog got better treatment than the doctor who was dragged off a United Airlines flight on Monday.
@KellyO Would like to see someone try to drag that guy out of his seat for overbooking.

But other users saw the picture as evidence of the enormous cost of the president’s frequent trips to Florida.
@KellyO Cute! Hate to be a bummer, but just think of how many plane tickets just for dogs we are buying for Trump to go to Florida *every* weekend.
