‘Your visit will spur greater cooperation’: Dr Mahathir thanks Imran

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad‏ on Wednesday thanked his Pakistani counterpart Imran Khan for visiting Malaysia on his invitation.

Shortly after Prime Minister Imran Khan left for home after concluding his official tour to Malaysia, Dr Mahathir Mohamad took to Twitter to thank him for the visit.

“I thank you for visiting Malaysia and I wish you and your delegation a productive time here. I am confident that your visit will spur greater cooperation and exchanges between our two countries and peoples, and our two regions,” wrote the Malaysian PM on his official twitter handle.

Earlier today, addressing a joint news conference with his Malaysian counterpart in Kuala Lumpur, Prime Minister Imran Khan said Pakistan wants to learn from Malaysia’s experience of turning around economy, trade, and development in other sectors.

He said Pakistan has huge untapped tourism resources, which we want to develop this sector on the pattern Malaysia has done.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Mahathir Mohamad said Malaysia and Pakistan face similar challenges and it has been decided to cooperate with one another to cope with them.

He emphasized the need to continue mutual cooperation to benefit from the experiences of one another.

He said it was also decided to have a dialogue partnership at the ASEAN group; besides, enhancing mutual cooperation in defence sector.

Imran Khan also invited Dr Mahathir Mohamad to visit Pakistan as chief guest on the occasion of Pakistan Day falling on 23rd March next year.
