WATCH: Israeli minister caught using onion to fake tears during campaign
TEL AVIV: Israeli minister Arye Deri became an object of universal derision after he was caught on camera using union to fake tears.
Soon after his video emerge showing the minister using hilariously novel tactic to fake crying, it has gone viral on the internet.
According to some websites, Arye Deri, of the ultra-orthodox Shas political party, resorted to extreme measures when he was unable to genuinely weap during the filming of an election campaign video memorializing the party’s late mentor, Rabbi Ovadia Yosef.
Yosef, who died in 2013, was the founder of the party and, as Deri clearly realized and exploited, the key to gaining the support of the membership.
Deri seemed frustrated at his inability to cry and asks for the onion which he then proceeds to rub into his eyes.
