Sweltering weather to continue in Pakistan with showers at some places: Met Office

KARACHI: Sweltering weather spell will continue to grip most parts of the country with some areas to receive showers with thunderstorm and gusty winds which reduces temperature, said the meteorological department.

According to an official of the Met Office, seasonal low lies over northeast Balochistan and weak monsoon currents are still penetrating northeastern parts of the country and Kashmir. A shallow westerly wave is still affecting the upper parts of the country and likely to persist over Kashmir and its adjoining areas in the next 48 hours, he added.

The weatherman said mainly hot and humid weather is expected in most parts of the country. However, rain/thundershowers with gusty winds is expected at few places in Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Malakand, Hazara region, Peshawar, Mardan, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.

The maximum and minimum temperature in Karachi will remain at 28 and 35 degree Celsius respectively with weather to remain partly cloudy. Lahore will experience temperature up to 36 degree Celsius while the mercury in Peshawar and Quetta will rise to 41 and 37 degree Celsius respectively, during the day.
