WHO offers support of development of HRH in Punjab

LAHORE: World Health Organization (WHO) has offered technical support to Punjab Health Department for development of Human Resources for Health (HRH), ARY News reported.

According to a statement issued after a key meeting of WHO’s delegation with Punjab Minister for Health Dr. Yasmin Rashid, WHO has offered technical support to Punjab Health Department for development of HR and an expert of international repute Dr. Mario Roberto Dal Paz would be assigned task to establish HRH Observatory for Punjab.

The expert would also help in finalizing the HRH profiling besides giving recommendations for provincial HRH strategic framework would be offered.

She told the WHO delegation that government of Punjab was focusing on engaging with the general physicians and was improving the preventive and primary healthcare for achieving UHC. Maternal and neonatal child health, family planning and nutrition will be amongst the top priority agenda.

Dr. Yasmin Rashid acknowledged Dr. Mario and WHO for their technical assistance towards a scientific review of the drafts for the finalization. She reiterated the government’s commitment towards addressing health workforce deficits in the province.

“Achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) was a key priority identified by Punjab’s new government” said Dr Yasmin Rashid.

The minister was also presented with the Punjab health workforce strategy draft after being technically vetted by Dr. Mario Roberto Dal Poz.

Dr. Yasmin Rashid thanked Dr Mario for his technical support to the PPHA team towards finalization of the health workforce strategy documents for Punjab.
