RAWALPINDI: The wife of martyred Pakistani soldier, Major Ishaq, carried forward the legacy of her husband and won laurels in a recent army training.
Ms Ayesha successfully completed her Army Medical Course in Islamabad and Kakul, and also bagged the title of ‘best shooter,’ said Hataff Security Systems in a Facebook post.
“She fired a G3 rifle from a distance of 200 metres hit 15 out 16 targets and was awarded as the best firer of the course,” the post read.
“One very special thing is that this is the same gun that Major Ishaq fired 40 rounds from, 20 rounds with his right hand and when his right hand got injured, he changed the magazine and fired 20 rounds with his left hand,” the post added.
Martyr Major Ishaq, aged 28, embraced martyrdom, in Nov 2017, during a search operation conducted on a tip-off about the presence of terrorists in a hideout in Kulachi area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s D.I. Khan district. He left behind a wife and one-year son.
In his tweet, the ISPR chief had said, “We have a sacred duty at hand of cleansing & defending our motherland; WE SHALL DO IT”.
In another tweet, Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor reiterated that sacrifices by the martyrs of the motherland will not go in vain or will be compromised upon.
Major Ishaq was laid to rest with full military honours at ‘Shahuda Qabristan’ at Cavalry Ground, Lahore on Nov 23, 2017.
