Woman who set herself on fire at police station in Jahaniyan dies

JAHANIYAN: A woman who set herself on fire at a police station over non-registration of a FIR against her husband and members of his family died at a hospital, ARY News reported. 

The woman identified as Razia Bibi had set herself ablaze at a police station when police officials declined her request to register a case against her husband and his family members.

She had suffered burn wounds and was shifted to Multan’s Nishtar Hospital for treatment. She was being treated at the hospital’s burn ward where she struggled against all the odds before she died of her burn injuries.

Back in 2015, a woman, who was a victim of rape, had died after setting herself on fire in front of a police station in Saddar area of Muzaffargarh.

Sonia Bibi, a resident of Deenpur area, was allegedly raped by three persons.

Depressed by the attitude of the police, the victim had set herself on fire, receiving severe burn injuries, which led to her death.
