SIALKOT: Indian forces resorted to unprovoked firing at the Shakargarh sector of the Working Boundary and martyred a woman and injured seven others.

According to ISPR, the heavy exchange of fire took place about 8p.m. on Thursday night. Pakistan Rangers gave a befitting response and targeted Indian check posts.

Pakistan Army also responded befittingly to the unprovoked Indian firing on Jandroot and Nakyal sectors.

On Wednesday, two more civilians embraced Shahadat (martyrdom) and eight other were injured in Chaprar Sector on the working boundary due to Indian firing.

As Indian and Pakistani troops regularly exchange fire across their de-facto border in Kashmir, Pakistan has repeatedly told India to refrain from creating tensed circumstances for the soldiers along the border.

Relations between the two countries have plummeted in recent months, with India blaming militants from Pakistan for a raid on an army base in its part of disputed Kashmir in September that killed 19 soldiers.

Pakistan has denied Indian allegations, saying Islamabad would continue to give political and moral support to Kashmiris until they get independence from Indian rule and brutalities by the Indian forces.
