KARACHI: An inhumane act of a high ranking police officer was exposed as Superintendent Police (SP) Gulshan Tahir Noorani started threatening father of Nishwa, the nine-year-old girl who was paralysed due to the negligence of Darul Sehat Hospital’s administration, ARY News reported on Monday.

Instead of taking action against culprits, SP Gulshan Tahir Noorani allegedly threatened the father, Qaiser Ali, with severe consequences over raising voice against criminal negligence of the hospital administration which paralysed a minor girl due to the administration of wrong injection.

A video, which was acquired by ARY News, showed that Noorani was interacting with Qaiser Ali in presence of other people reportedly inside the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.

Qaiser Ali told ARY News that he received direct threats from the high ranking police officer, who forced him to withdraw his demands for action against the hospital.

Noraani’s statement raged people there, who further asked him to briefly define them the warning he wanted to issue to the affectee’s father.

Ali said, “The SP told me to thinks thoroughly before taking further action. He threatened me with severe consequences to me and my family if you have registered a First Investigation Report (FIR) [in this case] as nothing would have happened to the hospital. Even, the police officer was asking me to step back from registering the complaint.”

Ali further said, “It is our good luck that the video was recorded at that time. If they question me for my belief in justice, I will show them this video recording. What should I expect from them for getting justice after registration of FIR.”

Nishwa’s father clarified, “If we’ve decided to step forward, we will definitely go ahead [in this case to get justice]. How can you threaten us? A person, whose daughter is paralysed, was being threatened to withdraw the case if he wanted to prevent him and his family from more losses.”

Ali slammed attitude showed by the official for suppressing victims despite witnessing crimes in front of their eyes.

Murtaza Wahab said that the government has directed related authorities to provide security to the affected family besides opening an investigation against SP Gulshan Tahir Noorani over threatening the father of the paralysed girl.

While taking immediate action, AIG Karachi Amir Ahmed Shaikh ordered the police officer to step down from his position until completion of the investigation.

On April 14, a nine-month-old girl had paralysed allegedly after being administered ‘wrong injection’ by ‘untrained nursing staff’ at Darul Sehat Hospital situated in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar area.
