Death was all around him after he was diagnosed with cancer in 2015, so he decided to battle the disease by dedicating his life for a positive change.

The Muslim millionaire, Ali Banat was told that he only had seven months to live, but he outlived the period predicted by doctors with his struggle to reform the rest of his life. He said his life was a gift because Allah had given him a chance to change.

The businessman from Sydney engaged himself in philanthropic work and shunned his lavish lifestyle. Prior to his cancer, Banat lived a luxurious life filled with fast cars, expensive clothing and countless other material possessions, but after he realised he had short time, he said, he realised he had been chasing the wrong goals.

He raised money for underprivileged Muslims around the world and eventually sold his business and travelled to Togo, Africa, where an estimated 55% of the population lives below the poverty line and almost 20% of the total population is Muslim.

He worked for community development there and used his money to build a mosque and a school for the local community. He also set up a charity project called Muslims Around the World (MATW).

The philanthropist who loved to meet Allah (SWT) passed away earlier this week, and his foundation is still alive to serve the humanity.

MATW foundation is also working to provide shelter to 200 widows and provide medical relief to villagers. It also has other corollaries to support the local community and can be reached at the official GoFundMe page.

The proceeds from this page all go towards the three projects and in the past three years almost £600,000 have been raised.
