RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Supreme Court on Saturday announced that the kingdom will mark August 12 as first day of the holy month of Zil-Hajj, ARY News reported.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the Saudi apex court announced this decision after a session presided over by the President of the Supreme Court Ghihab bin Mohammed al-Ghihab.
The kingdom will mark Sunday, August 12 as first day of the holy month while Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated on August 21.
Zil-Haj isj the twelfth and final month in the Islamic calendar. It is the month in which the Hajj pilgrimage and Eid-ul-Azha take place.
It is pertinent to note here that the kingdom has already announced holidays for Eid-ul-Azha. The Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (Sama) on Friday confirmed that the holiday will begin on Friday, August 17, and resume on Sunday, August 26.
The same long weekend will be observed by those dealing in the stock market, with the Saudi Stock Exchange announcing that trading will discontinue at the end of business on August 16 and resume after the holiday on August 26.
