KARACHI: Following the agonizing traffic jams mainly because of concurrent constructions on main arteries of Karachi, a temporary ban has been placed on entry of heavy traffic in the metropolis during the daytime, ARY News reported.
The ban on entry of heavy vehicles will be applicable from today (Monday) for three months. The vehicles could only commute between 11:00pm and 6:00am.
Commissioner Karachi Ejaz Ahmed said the ban on heavy traffic is imposed for three months. He also said alternative routes for the vehicles were also established.

This should be noted that in August 2007 the Supreme Court had directed the traffic police and the city government to immediately stop the entry of heavy vehicles in the city during daytime.
The interim order passed by a SC bench was in exercise of the court’s suo motu power.
