The hotel located in central London also housed Pakistan’s former president Asif Ali Zardari.  Sources claim that the Pakistani leader has been evacuated and shifted to another hotel.

Atleast twelve people were  injured in the explosion that took place in the kitchen area of the hotel while some reports suggest the blast occurred  in the basement of the building.

“There was a gas explosion in the kitchen area of the hotel and we believe five people were injured. They are being treated by London Ambulance crews,” a Scotland Yard spokesman said.

Police and fire brigades have been deployed to the scene. Fire brigade vans are trying to extinguish the blitz at the hotel.
