Extreme hot weather to bake Karachi during next three days

KARACHI: Intensified summers in Karachi were swift to completely overtake the pleasant weather of the metropolis, as warnings have been issued by the met office for extreme hot temperature during the next three days. 

According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the city is expected to face extreme weather conditions during the next three days from Friday to Sunday, due to the halt in sea breeze and change in wind direction.

“Today [Friday] we recorded the city’s temperature at 38 degrees Centigrade,” said Abdul Rasheed, director of Met office.

“The trend is likely to continue for the next two to three days and in the daytime the temperature could touch 39 degrees Centigrade. However, there is no threat of heatwave, neither any such advisory has been issued by the Met office. We keep all institutions concerned updated of the weather trend and the same is conveyed to all relevant authorities.”

Few days earlier, weather experts cautioned that 2019 is likely to be the hottest year since 2015.

Last year, the temperature in the last week of March was recorded at 40 degrees Centigrade, but in 2019 the weather remained normal during the same month, as per met department.

Considering the PMD’s predictions, the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) is taking precautionary measures to improve water supply in all areas of the city, said KWSB Managing Director Asadullah Khan.
