ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Leader Fawad Chaudhry requested Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar to take suo moto notice of Senator Nehal Hashmi’s ‘open threats’ to the members of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) probing the Panama Papers.

Talking to reporters outside the Election Commission of Pakistan, the PTI leader billed the PML-N leader’s statement as a conspiracy to make the Panama Papers probe controversial.

In a video going viral, Senator Nehal Hashmi associated with Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz can be seen extending threats of dire consequences to the officials of the JIT for holding Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s family accountable.

Fawad said the ruling party leader had openly threatened the JIT members, which was tantamount to committing terrorism and treason.

The PTI leader maintained that the PML-N leaders had launched a campaign to scandalize the Supreme Court judges and the members of the JIT. “We will not allow them succeed in their nefarious designs,” he resolved while adding that his party would decide a future course of action in response to the statement.

He hoped that the Chief Justice of Pakistan would take suo moto notice of the statement.
