New chapter of Pak-Saudi ties to begin after crown prince’s visit: Chaudhry

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry on Tuesday met a delegation of Saudi media and discussed matters of mutual interest, ARY News reported.
During the meeting, Chaudhry said both the countries stood by each other in testing times.
The minister said the visit of Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman holds an immense importance. “We’re thankful to the Saudi government for their investment in Pakistan.”

He said Saudi Arabia always contributed towards strengthening Pakistan’s economy. The visit of Saudi crown prince will open new chapter of ties between the two countries, he added.
He underlined there was a strong contact between Saudi prince and Prime Minister Imran Khan. “Saudi Arabia is a very close ally of Pakistan,” the minister highlighted.
We also welcome the Saudi announcement to set up oil refinery in Gwadar, said Fawad Chaudhry, adding it would be one of the biggest oil refineries in Asia.
The construction of oil refinery will also create employment opportunities for local people, he remarked.
He said other trade agreements were also expected to be signed when Saudi prince meet the prime minister of Pakistan.
He said Pakistan was also considering a visa programme for Saudi Arabia. He was of the view that Pakistan was taking measures to promote tourism.
According to sources, the preparations are going with full swing for the maiden visit of the Saudi crown prince, who is due to arrive in Islamabad on February 16.
The sources close to the embassy said, accords worth $20 billion, including the project of setting up oil refinery, will be inked between the two countries.
Upon arrival, the crown prince will be received by Prime Minister Imran Khan and the federal cabinet. During his two-day long visit, the visiting dignitary is likely to stay at the Prime Minister House, sources added.
