FBR officer seeks permission for corruption in letter to PM

ISLAMABAD: In a bizarre request, a Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) officer has sought permission for corruption in a letter to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to address the domestic expenses amid soaring inflation, ARY News reported. 

In a viral letter, the FBR of the Inland Revenue Service (IRS) has sought permission for corruption as he is facing difficulties to meet the expenses due to his low salary.

“If it is not possible to increase my pay scale, allow me to do corruption,” the letter of FBR official state. In a letter penned to the premier, the FBR official also gave a break up of his expenses worth Rs115000.

The officer said the salaries are comparatively high in the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and other institutions, while the young officers of the FBR are not getting any perks and privileges and the performance bonus is also sized from 2015.

The authenticity of the letter is yet to be verified independently.
